The back teeth are the main culprits |
Good handling stocks and new specialised dental equipment allow us to do much more preventative and curative dental treatments - and all in-house, so you have no visit charge! A new electric power-float can quickly remodel abnormally wearing teeth surfaces, but badly affected horses may need a few visits. This horse has wave formation of the molars and needs remodelling. A well-balanced mouth will give you a well-balanced horse and the performance to match!
Many people are seeing the difference when they arrange a full dental exam under sedation. This really does lead to comfortable balanced mouths and better performing horses.
Performance dentistry can make all the difference at Parkside Equine.

The stocks and loose boxes
Having a look and a feel with the sedated horse's head resting on an adjustable padded stand.

After the mouth gag is opened, many hands are often needed, even for the sedated horse, seen here, with Ian Hunter examining with an oral mirror, Alistair Crozier aiding at the side and Helen Kidd (Edinburgh Vet student) keeping the tongue to the side.
