Dairy Cows good conception rates |
Planned Breeding - dairy and beef
Information from Parkside - Intervet's planned breeding programme for cattle, Intercept(TM), provides a reliable means by which 100% of cows can be served on time. The result is that healthy adult cattle will have increased pregnancy rates. It's also a good starting point for dealing with a herd fertility problem, and can help deliver a level milk profile and it allows cows to get back in-calf on time. The regime combines treatments with Receptal® and a prostaglandin on specific days to arrive at a nominated day for serving. Fixed time AI means heat detection is not required - on most herds these days, detection rates are at around 40-45% and there are fewer cows being served in the window of opportunity 50-70 days after calving. Intercept is operated in conjunction with Parkside and, provided that an initial investigative visit allows your vet to examine which cows are suitable (through discussion and good record keeping), Intercept is capable of delivering excellent results. The regime comprises: Day 0: Receptal (2.5ml) Intercept works particularly well in large herds where the herdsman or farmer don't have sufficient time to devote to rigorous heat detection or cattle are not expressing oestrous properly. |
