Flea Time

ctenpcephallides felis Never far away

In warmer weather, your pets are more likely to pick up fleas when they are out for a walk, without coming in contact with other dogs or cats. This is because the baby fleas will live and develop where they fall off a pet - under a bush, while basking in the sun for instance, then your pet sniffs around this area, the fleas sense the movement and start jumping till they they find the hair of your pet. Only adult fleas live on your dog or cat.

That's why we see many more fleas over the summer than over the winter - and most fleas on dogs are cat fleas. Remember your rabbits too, because Myxomatosis is spread via the rabbit flea. We see more cases of flea infestations every year.

You can easily prevent this by applying a spot-on preparation to your pet. One application will last at least one month and it is very safe to use yet extremely effective, killing fleas if they find your pet - before they have a chance to feed and lay eggs - DEAD! You (or your pet!) can even go swimming - or bath as usual, as long as you wait three days after application.

Beware of cheap pet-shop imitations which are said to repell fleas (look closely) - they do NOT kill fleas and they do not work. Our preparations will cost around around 10p per day, depending on the pet's size - and they are 'dead' good.

Because these are prescription products we need to have seen your pet within the last 6 months. If we have not, we can arrange this free of charge.
