Old EPIVAX cartoon from 1960's |
This cartoon is over 45 years old and is indicative of the time when a vaccine was introduced against Distemper - the biggest virus dog killer, which did not and still does not have a cure - hence the vaccine. It was called Epivax and was made by the drug company, Welcome. See the advert in the top left corner. The original is framed at Parkside's Dundee surgery.
Since then dogs are routinely vaccinated against Distemper, viral Hepatitis, Parvovirus (since 1983), Leptospirosis and a respiratory virus, PI3. Kennel cough or Bordetella vaccine is also done for dogs going into boading kennels.(please see Yellow Pages for these and go and look at them personally, so everyone is happy before boarding). Read more about Vaccinations in the Pets section.
There are twelve Parkside Vets working in all aspects of Veterinary work in and around Dundee. Eight work purely caring for your pets, while the others are involved in farm and equine work too.
The Partners are the Vets who own the business, and employ the other Vets Nurses and Receptionists and other staff to make the business work! Tina Matheson is our practice manager.
