epivax cartoon Old EPIVAX cartoon from 1960's

"He'll let you touch him all right, the trick is getting your hand back"

This cartoon is over 45 years old and is indicative of the time when a vaccine was introduced against Distemper - the biggest virus dog killer, which did not and still does not have a cure - hence the vaccine. It was called Epivax and was made by the drug company, Welcome. See the advert in the top left corner. The original is framed at Parkside's Dundee surgery.

Since then dogs are routinely vaccinated against Distemper, viral Hepatitis, Parvovirus (since 1983), and Leptospirosis. Infectious cough caused by Bordetella and PI3 (para-influenza"3") is also available Kennel Cough vaccine, but remember the dog in the park is as likely to pick this up and we do recommend all dogs to have this extra one. It's 20% cheaper to do this at the time of the main vaccines. Most kennels insist on this prior to bording. Read more about Vaccinations in the Pets section.

There are fourteen Parkside Vets working in all aspects of Veterinary work in and around Dundee. Eight work purely caring for your pets, while the others are involved in farm and equine work too.

The Partners are the Vets who own the business, and employ the other Vets Nurses and Receptionists and other staff to make the business work! Tina Matheson is our practice manager.
