Never Far Away |
Most dogs must be vaccinated against "kennel cough" to be boarded in kennels. The fact is that most coughs that spread in kennels are caused by viruses, so being vaccinated against Bordetella (which causes true kennel cough), still leaves your dog open to infection by many viruses which cause similar coughs - many do not make the dog ill, but they make the owners ill because they can't sleep as the dog keeps coughing during the night!
These viral infections are spread very easily and when these dogs mix with others in the park, then your dog becomes infected. Just a cough produces many air-borne droplets which travel in the breeze - to your dog! Our vaccine manufacturer (Nobivac, by Intervet) has gone some way to help this matter by adding a viral portion to the Kennel Cough vaccine (not just Bordetella) in an aim to protect ALL dogs against infections like those described above. The PI3 virus which is added, is the cause of most coughing infections in dogs (though not every one), so vaccinating your dog with this (within the kennel cough vaccine) at the same time as the normal annual vaccinations, will help to prevent your dog picking up this stubborn infection. We always have at least one plague every year and now it can be avoided!
If you ask for the Infectious Cough vaccine at the same time as annual vaccinations, then you will save over 10% on the normal cough-vaccination cost!
